Default Some Q6600 G0 / P5K deluxe Overclocks & Findings.

Just took delivery of a G0 quad.

First impressions are good.

The B3 that I have just removed, needed around 1.45-1.47v to hit 3.2Ghz.

I just fitted the G0, put it straight to 360FSB (3250Mhz same as the B3) and it is happily priming at...well look for yourself

I'll update this later on, but I can see good things for this CPU

Well here goes:

Installed chip and stock cooler - idle temps ranged from 36-41 on each core. In prime95 all cores ranged from 65-69 (this is at 2.82ghz btw). I ran prime for 10 minutes to get these results.

I ran the system for a while - rebooted and changed the voltage to 1.275 (I think). I then ran the prime test which should generate the most heat and power consumption and my temp's never went over 61 (ran for around 25 minutes)?

Surely the voltage won't have made that much difference?

I've fixed the pic for you (You need 5 posts to post links and pics).

Yep, AUTO setting for Vcore will often give you much more than you need. You may find that for the overclock you are doing, you can get away with less than 1.275 as well

Hmm just running the small FFT test and it's going to 65...I thought the other test should've generated more heat :/

It seems to have stopped rising at 66/66/63/63

Got up to 67/67/63/63 after 6 minutes. I think those temps should be fine.

Using the stock cooler.

Wonder whether it'd be worth getting a tuniq tower?

I don't want to water cool before you say

I have an arctic freezer 7 pro - but I broke one of the pins and from results I've seen it isn't much better than the stock cooler.

Quite amazing this!

Around 2.5 hours into a prime session, 23c room temp.

Its looking like this - cant be right can it? I notice speedfan is only showing 3 cores, so that needs an update, and we can safely add 15c to the speedfan temps to bring them in line with the coretemp readings.

I'm using watercooling...not used any aircoolers on my quad apart from the stock one.

What complaints have you heard about the Thermalright?

If you are happy with those temps and that overclock, then you dont need a new cooler.

I dont think the drops in temp are as great as people make out with the lapping thing - and to be honest, I think that a backplate is the most effective way of lowering your temps (assuming you have a cooler that can use one).

How about the thermalright ultima 90?
