Default Gigabyte EP35-DS3R strange bios settngs...

Anybody know why this board has these settings:

DDR2 DeOverVolatge (normal, -0.1v)
FSB DeOverVolatge (normal, -0.05v, -0.1v, -0.15v)
MCH DeOverVolatge (normal, -0.1v)

Why have the reverse of the OverVoltage settings available? Isn't that, well, useless? I mean unless you want to undervolt the fsb, dimm, and nb. Strange.

A lot of people like to undervolt. I suppose people that want to run totally silent/passive HTPC systems would benefit from that kind of thing.

Other than that, I dunno

I guess. But why not build a HTPC around something like a t8100 merom and a mini-itx board. You could passive cool the whole thing and not have to worry about jury-rigged underclocking and such.

Because they might want the occasional grunt that a C2D can give them?

I'm just guessing

When i had the P5E, that would let me underclock on the fly, i was running my C2D at 1.80 GHz (300x6) with 1.2 Volts most of the time, instead of the nominal 2.66 GHz @1.31 V.
For watching a movie, listening to music, browsing, seeding, you simply don't notice any difference.
I would then hit the turbo button and it would go 2.80 GHz without restarting if i needed to play games or encode or whatever required more power.
