Default Q9450 Best mobo for 500fsb?

Hello everybody my first post.

I currently am overclocking a Q9450 cpu and am overclocking it to the max stable on water. I have reached an FSB wall at 465fsb. I was wondering by purchasing a DFI x48 board am I likely to reach a higher FSB?

Cheers

Welcome to the forums

I would say that if you are at 465FSB and stable, then you *might* be able to squeeze out a little bit more, but I really do mean a little bit.

As to wether it is worth it or not, that depends on wether you are solely looking for benchmark results, or if you want 24/7 stability.

I'm not familiar with your motherboard, or how well it clocks in relation to others, but I would say that the chances are that your CPU is the limiting factor.

If it's just some big overclocks you are after, then you could try adding some extra PLL voltage if you motherboard allows it, sometimes this is lumped together with the SB voltage, or might even be called CPU PLL or similar. Be aware though that while this will help your FSB clocks, it will likely degrade your CPU quite quickly, and you may find that you end up with a CPU that won't clock very high.

Are you liquid cooling your whole motherboard or just the cpu?
If you wanna keep the multiplier at 8x, you might wanna try and add a loop for the PWM, if it's getting hot.
