Default Need help with my overclocking

Hi.

I have just built a new computer, and am looking for a bit of help in boosting my overclock.

I am hitting a wall at 3.6MHZ, even though temps are low, and memory timings are loose.

The graphic card is currently successfully overclocked to 704/1753/1003.

If i raise the processor over 3.60Mhz it fails prime/opo tests within minutes.

Temperature barely reaches 50C while prime95 is running.

I would like the best performance balance between CPU/RAM for gaming.

Thanks a ton!

Motherboard is updated to F10 Bios and it's currently set to:

Quote:
MB Intelligent Tweaker (MIT)
Robust Graphics Booster: Auto
CPU Clock Ratio: 9x
CPU Host Clock Control: Enabled
CPU Host Frequency(Mhz) : 400
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) : Auto
C.I.A.2: Disabled
Performance Enhance: Standard
System Memory Multiplier (SPD): Auto
Memory Frequency(Mhz): 800 960
DRAM Timing Selectable : Manual
Standard Timing Control
CAS Latency Time: : 5
DRAM RAS# to CAS# : 5
DRAM RAS# Precharge : 5
Precharge Delay(tRAS) : 15
Advanced Timing Control
ACT to ACT Delay(tRRD) : auto
Rank Write to READ Delay : auto
Write To Precharge Delay : auto
Refresh to ACT Delay : 0
Read To Precharge Delay : auto
tRD Value: auto
tRD Phase Adjustment : auto
System Voltage Control : Auto
DDR2 OverVoltage Control : +0.2V
PCI-E OverVoltage Control : Normal
FSB OverVoltage Control : Normal
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control : Normal
CPU Voltage Control : 1.23125V
Normal CPU Vcore : 1.22500V

Advanced Bios Features
Limit CPUID Max to 3: Disabled
No-Execute Memory Protect: Disabled
CPU Enhanced Halt(CIE): Disabled
CPU Thermal Monitor 2: Disabled
CPU EIST Function: Disabled
Virtuaalization Technology: Disbaled

The ram is timed at 4-4-4-15 1.9-2.1v, but if I try running it at that speed with a moderate overclock, it won't even boot up.

Hi Naly,
Welcome to the forums. Thanks for filling in your specs . don't have your board , but the bios looks pretty similar to the Gigabyte GA X38 DQ6

Your ram looks under volted default ram volts are 1.80v yours is rated at 2.2v so you need 0.40v
Code:
DDR2 OverVoltage Control : +0.2V ---> 0.40v
PCI-E OverVoltage Control : Normal ---> 0.35v
FSB OverVoltage Control : Normal---> 0.20~0.25v
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control : Normal --> 0.175~0.20v
Try those and see how it goes

luck

The RAM is rated 1.9-2.1v according to the OCZ site.

Sorry I just googled it & got 2.2V which is EVP.

I'd try the other voltage changes 1st then & if still unstable try +0.2V --> 0.3v

I have tried all of the rams voltage options for Naly, it doesn't get her past the stumbling block.

Is there just a limit on fsb+multiplier versus ram? is the only limitation "heat versus voltage required", crappy overclock configuration... or what is stopping it?

if I drop her multiplier by 1, she is stable at 450FSB.. with the multiplier back at 9, she isn't stable at anything over ~420fsb.

What is applying this limit?

Did you try any of these other voltage options ??:-

PCI-E OverVoltage Control : Normal ---> 0.35v
FSB OverVoltage Control : Normal---> 0.20~0.25v
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control : Normal --> 0.175~0.20v

You might also try
tRD Value: auto ---> 7

Supershanks - These 3 are all the same person (Jakshasis, Meem, Naly), so I have closed the accounts, they can email me if they want one of them reopening.
