Default Post your E8500/8400 Stable clocks here!!

As its slowly started to trickle in on the net I am sure most of you are aware of the amazing new C2D 8000 series. I've just come back on the scene and started out with the G0 q6600...a bad ass chip for sure...

But...most recently I picked up a E8400 C2D ....OMG...

Currently I am 4.4ghz (490 x 9 ) at 1.57v on the F7 bios from gigabyte (most stable with new 45nm chips).

Oh and on air cooling ( Noctura NH-U12F with a Silverstone 103 CFM fan upgrade ) I sit at 26C idle (Fan as low as it will go!) and 39c Load (fan on max).

I promptly returned the quad.

Usual suspects:
Gigabyte x38-DQ6
Crucial Ballistix 8500 ( Micron D9 )

I will post more detailed bios settings later but has anyone else experienced the awesome power yet!?!

These 45nm's are very fragile things by all accounts and will not stand 'over voltage ' such as this (1.57) for any length of time. You will end up with a 'damaged ' chip. I was going to buy one of these chips with a view to getting to 4g but it does not look as if they will be substantial enough to stand any big overclock for any length of time especially not with over voltage past 1.45.

1.57? WOHA man that's like giving 1.7 V to a 65 nm Quad!
Good luck and i fear you'll need it!

Here's my stable overclock:

I have had trouble getting it any higher because my cpu temp is too high. I'm not keen to run it any hotter than 72c according to realtemp.

System specs:
Asus P5K Premium/Wifi-AP "Black Pearl" Edition bios version 0612
Core2Duo e8400
4GB Corsair TWIN2x4096-6400C5
arctic freezer 7 pro cooler

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forums

Please put your system specs in your profile (click my sig for isntructions )

If you are really getting 72c, then it sounds like your cooler isn't on properly, or your airflow isn't good.
