Thanks. I will look for linpack now.
I have a corsair dominator fan on my ram (I am a bit of a fan fanatic and i dont care much for a quiet cases

yep, clocking is mre entertaining than telly,

for 4ghz you may need a bump or two in vtt maybe pll.

Dont worry too much just up the vcore and you should see close to 4ghz.

if this doesnt get you there you can always try a higher multi

I was planning on only upping the multiplier to 10 to get to 4Ghz so hopefully my NB wont need anymore tweaking.

I tried following Clunks guide on VTT and changing the GTL`s but i ended up with a very unstable machine (Would freese while loading into windows). Now i am definately not saying the guide is wrong i think i am probably just selecting the wrong options or i am overvolting it causeing instability. I also understand that is only a guide to what you should use and every board is different.

Here is what i changed
CPU VTT 1.25
CPU GTL 1/2 REF: 110
CPU GTL 0/3 REF: 105
NB GTL REF: 85

For me I have never really been able to tweak my GTL`s because my old board was a maximus formula.
So i am still a bit in the dark to what i should try.

GTLs are very fuuny things, every chip board combo seems to need unique settings, Clunks settings, as you are aware, will not work for everyone and are just a guide to what he used for his clocks.

There are settings all over the net but i would consider them broad strokes and only for reference rather than anything definative.

You will need to work hard with them to see results.

Since i dont have your CPU i am not 100% on where to ask you to start, hopefully one of the guys will take a look and give you a pointer or two to get you moving again.

Otherwise i will have to do some trial and error.

What happens if you turn off the GTL ref setting?

I think that with your CPU I would be going for something like 11x370 if 4GHz was what I was after.

I have it off all the time. I just tried to turn GTL`s on and my machine got very unstable.
When i get home i will try 11x370
Thanks

I tried to get to 4 Ghz and i think i almost had it semi stable. but my voltage was sitting at 1.52 and i am unsure if my cpu water block is copping so decied to try for 3.8 GHZ. I couldnt even boot the ram @ DDR 850 or any of the other strap settings!!!!

Eventually i loaded my saved profile for 3.6 and that wasnt working either. I definately think it is the ram giving me trouble. What should i do? I can get the machine to work fine at DDR 800 5-5-5-15 @ a performance level of 9. But i was hoping to run the ram a little bit faster then that. If i bring the performane level down to 8 it will restart and i tried 5-4-4-12(no boot). I was so upset with my machine beacuse i felt like i was making progress then al of a sudden no stability. Eventually i just turned the machine off and went to sleep.

So what would you guys suggest i do?

1.52v is way too high.

The thing is, your CPU just might not do 4GHz stable, if that's the case, then you'll just have to do what everyone else does and run it a bit slower. Generally for a 65nm quad, you are looking at 3.6-3.8GHz which is still insanely fast

Why would you say that 1.52 is to High? ie: is it temps, shorten cpu life etc
I can boot into windows at 1.46 but it is not stable.
I am starting to think that 3.6Ghz is going to be my only choice which is weird because it ran at 3.825Ghz on maximus formula for about a year at just 1.45V

I am so right now. I feel like i am going backwards.
