Yep, tRFC to 76, RAM at 333/667 and 333/1066, still the C1 error. Also RAM tested on each stick, full 100-300% pass on Memtest86. So my board is screwed then?

It certainly seems that way mate. You could take the board out of the case and build it up on some cardboard to rule out any shorts from the case.

Check that end slot for stuff that shouldn't be there etc.

Other than that, it seems like an RMA.

I think that the yellow light near the DIMM slots means power to the memory slots is ok, it's there so that you dont add or remove sticks when it's on and also to show if there are problems on the memory slots.
So probably the board is faulty, it's very unlikely that the memory is bad since it passed Memtest; if you haven't done that already, i'd try only one stick on the slots furthest from the cpu, and if it doesn't POST it's RMA time.

Thanks very much for the responses ,

hopefully we can pick this thread up when this board get sorted - I still think I should be able to get the board stable at 3.8Ghz (maybe 4) - its stable at 3.7 in single channel mode so I dont think dual channel RAM will make a difference to overclocking?

Not that much, if anything it can make it more difficult to reach VERY high FSB clocks, (i'm talking 550-600 MHz and beyond), but with a E8200 there will be no problem.
But you will see improvements in games, and huge improvememnts in image editing apps like Photoshop if you use big files or keep a lot of photos opened.
