I got them with a second hand tv/dvd/vcr I got from someone at work. The problem with that setup was that the DVD player didn't have any 5.1 outputs, so the speakers and sub were just setup as a stereo system, until I yoinked them and set them up with my PC, which is now in a nice square room, and they seem to work pretty well.
Oblivion and Stalker both work brilliantly with them, I haven't tested much else. I've also got the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude soundcard driving them, I can't say the sound quality is lacking in any way. The crossover for the sub is setup in the Prelude's control panel, so everything is done pretty much automatically by the soundcard.
