I've had some pretty good results with my Ballistix D9 on X38/X48. This last set that I de-heatspreadered has been going strong for 6+ months in a variety of boards. Might be a batch thing?

It could well be Clunk. It might also be a single sided ram thing as well. Unfortunately i did'nt bookmark the thread where i read it (and there are hundreds of Ballistix threads ), so can't provide a link at the moment. But i will hunt around and see if i can find it.

it was the the 7th of May 2008 so it really wasnt that long abo but at least i managed to boot into windows

i mean currently a fresh isntall isnt an option for me currently - my second hdd is compleatly full and i got a lot on my main drive. i think from the first day i bought windows vista i have reinstalled it over 30 times! But i was ready on another forum where some one had the same sort of problem and guess what kind of ram they had?

BALISTIX

God dam Ram!

They probably mean the single sided dimms when they say the revised version, which should be more stable, but won't clock anywhere near as high.
