good news! its been like 3 days with no BSOD. I sent 2GB of my 4 back to crucial and got 2 sent back and they seem to work fine, i guess it was 2 sticks that were broken!!

this makes a total of 4 sticks that i have had to send back to crucial now! not good!

RAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! RAAAA!!!! GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *SMASH* grr

awoke this morning to be greeted by a juicy "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" BSOD so i did a system restore incase it was sum new progs i had installed. Did that - when i came back from doing that i was greeted by another BSOD but this time with no errors.

what the hell is wrong with my pc now?

Flip the battery out for a few minutes and try again, if it's still doing BSOD, it's memtest time.

Okay will try that - rang crucial and they said that there might be a incompatibilty problemn with the board and memory and they are taking it to their technical people because i ran memtest and got no errors and they said and let me quote "
"it is possible that it will work fine for a few days then just suddenly not and memtest shows no erriors because there is nout wrong with the ram and if there is something with compatibilty will will give you a replacement 4gb ram of much lower speed"

i was like what the hell??? well i didnt say that but thats what i tought - they said they will email me tomorrow.

god my luck with computers is so bad - i recently send back my laptop for repairs and when i got it back it was even worse so i sent it back again only to find sum idiot forgot to plug the fan in!!!

anyways will remove the cmods for a while.

I seem to recall a while ago reading that "Crucial" do not reccommend ANY of their high speed ram for the X38 or the X48 chipset. This is'nt a mobo issue but is in fact a chipset issue. If i were you i would be looking at selling your Ballistix and grabing some OCZ or G-Skill.

crap!!! grrr

maybe overclockers.co.uk will give me a refund for them or maybe even crucial will?

if i were to get new RAM i would go with OCZ but in starting to think i will since everything is going wrong with my pc atm and it all seems ram related.

by the way have removed cmos for a few mins and am testing now - usually get a bsod after about 10 - 35 mins

Even their memory finder will return hardly any hits for Ballistic when selecting X38/X48 boards.
