Great thats good news. Do you happen to remember if there were any major changes required in the BIOS for 600 FSB (bootable) from 550 FSB stable? I assume a small bump in vNB, perhaps increase CPU clock skew to 200 - 300ps?

I've never had a chip that would do 600FSB stable

I know that a lot of boards (and chips) needed massive amounts of NB and CPU PLL to get over 600FSB, something that I wouldn't want to do for 24/7 use.

i have some questions...
i have DFI LP-LT-X48-T2r, Q9550, team xtreem 2*1gb....
and i want my Q9550 run at 3,8ghz daily....
how should i tweak the bios without change the GTL setting???
im affraid to tweak that GTL setting...

please give me some best full setup setting for my rig...
almost forgot, i want to do some crossfire HD4870+HD4850 (in OC condition)....
i want my q9550 will not having bottleneck in those setting....just for the 3dmark score.....

thx before...i hope u can help me to solve this problem...
i tried hard tweaking it, but i was reached my limit at 3.7ghz,,,,,

Welcome to the forums

It's difficult to advise on settings for a 9550 because they can vary so widely.

Please grab the BIOS template from the sticky in the Intel overclocking section and list all your BIOS settings for your highest stable overclock and we will see what we can do.

It looks like your memory is set too high, have you tried with the 400/800 strap?

You have to keep in mind that the 45nm quads don't overclock particularly well and that 3.7GHz is pretty good for your set up without any GTL Ref tweaking.

Try the memory thing first though

i really confused with it...
my friend said that there are some people in my town who have this procie too...
he said that with just auto setting q9550 is easy to reach 4ghz...

i really disappointed with it...i passed 3,8ghz yesterday, but after i tweak the GTL...
in ur opinion, it is dangerous or no if i want to make this 3.7ghz setup for daily use????
if i use HD4850 (OC @ 725mhz) + HD4870 (OC @ 800mhz)....
do u think that my 3dmark 06 score will passed 20k if i use CF on Q9550 @3.7ghz????

400/800 strap??? i'll try it....
at the first i'll try to reach 3,8ghz first...

Change to the 400/800 or 333/800 strap before you try for 3.8, your RAM is going much higher than it's rated for, so that may be why it's unstable. If you change the strap, it'll lower the RAM speed and that's one less thing to worry about.

You can also try some more NB voltage.
