I was going to say that I found the Galaxy to be the most unreliable and incompatible PSU I have ever used, but you seem to have found that out for yourself

When I got to my 5th one inside a year, I sold it and bought a different brand and I haven't had any problems since.

There is another factor that can have adverse effects on your VTT/GTL tweaking results and that is temperature. From my own tests, I have found that GTL REF tweaking is less effective when using air cooling and a higher Vcore, and similarly, when using sub zero cooling, I found the GTL REF to be incredibly sensitive and the slightest changes caused adverse affects - This is something that I would like other people to comment on because I would like to explore it further

Indeed this is the case i've been messing about with the Q9450 for a couple of weeks now and have found the GTL settings to be a proper pain in the ar#e ! As i don't have acces to a DMM this has been a doubly hard experience with the 45nm as most GTL ref tables that i've seen still use the G0 chip and as far as i'm aware these settings don't apply !! (In fact i'll tell you they don't seem to appy )

after a few days buggering about i've found .....for the P35 at least a GTL ref of 63% for the cores is a good starting point however to get it running prime stable the GTL for the NB seems optimum around 69%

Joking aside though, it seems that the Q9450 is a real pig to overclock, regardless of the board. I'm wondering if there is a BIOS fix for this, or if they really are just poor clockers?

yeah , it is a bit of a pig , dunno about a bios fix for it though , been reading on the tinternet a lot of cases of them struggling past 450fsb on a few different boards? maybe a revised GTL table for the 45nm quads but to be honest but i doubt you'd get a lot more without serious overvolting .

For me its looking like the G0 is still king of the hill.

hi there, I'm new to DFI, so take me as a newbee [after 3 days of browsing the net, exploring the bios...setting and resetting, I admit that I've falled here from stone-age...in one word...I'm an ex-asus...]

my rig > DFI-UT-X48-T2R / E8600 / 4x1_Team-Xtreem_8500_[D9__] / HIS-4850 / ps-antec-650w

could someone [with a similar config, please] share with me some .abs file with a 24/7 settings... [I'm aiming at fsb500...for not missing too much my last P45-Asus / with mems at 5:6 ]

...to answer you...yes, I'm reading on and on...then, I'm practicing ...and this second part is killing me...
and I must confess, the "GTL REF & VTT" part of your guide, would be even more helpfull if it would be enriched with some ~'real life' examples...that would be enough to help me made/follow the correlations in those tables...thanks
