Default GTL REF & VTT Voltage Settings - X48 LT-UT.

GTL REF & VTT Voltage Settings - X48 LT-UT.

Important Update
- All tables updated and fixed 09/04/2008 - If you notice any errors, please let me know.

Here are the GTL REF and VTT Voltage settings for the DFI LT/UT X48.

The table below shows a few examples of the correct GTL REF for a given VTT (GTL REF=67% of VTT).

To find the correct GTL Ref Voltage for your setup, simply find the VTT that you require from the table below, and then match the corresponding colour from the VTT tables below that.

An example of this would be that you need 1.250v VTT, as you can see that is colour coded green, scroll down the VTT tables until you find a green coloured section, and that is it - easy

The colour coding is there for ease of use and not all possibilities are colour coded, but it is straight forward enough. If you get stuck, please ask.

The next table shows the difference between the voltage set in the BIOS and the actual voltage that is applied - This is just an example and is based on having a 45nm CPU fitted, but the same principle applies for 65nm as well.

Table of VTT1.06V

Table of VTT1.20V

Table of VTT1.30V

Table of VTT1.40V

Table of VTT1.50V

Table of VTT1.55V

Interesting on the easy CMOS clear.

But I wonder why more motherboard makers don't have the function that my old Gigabyte GA-K8NS-939 has. It doesn't apply any overclocking settings until after POST and tells you this with a short pause with the ability to hit DEL and get into the BIOS setup before they are actually applied.

So if you do change some settings that lock the machine up all you have to do is hit reset and DEL during POST and bobs yer uncle, into BIOS setup to change the offending settings with all your other regular settings still in place.

clunk,

do those GTL settings also apply for X38/X48 with Q6600 65nm?

Welcome to the forums

Yes, they are intended as a starting point, but you will most likely need to tweak them for your system

Default CPU VID and the vcore voltage readings in CPUz

I am a bit confused about CPU VID control.
CPUz used to show 1.223v or closed to that voltage and always stayed the same even when I change it in the BIOS.
When I add CPU VID CPUz reads 1.184v now.

Does the core voltage and the VID average out to give a definite voltage because I have both vcore and vid set different? Or does vid kinda add to the core voltage when needed?

I' am really new to all the technical aspects of overclocking.

The special VID setting will add a small amount of extra Vcore, on top of whatever is set for the CPU VID Control.

A calculator is a handy thing to have when you are using the special VID setting

Another thing to remember is that it will only work above 1.2v.

CPU-Z and a few others all report the voltage as higher than it should be, but it turns out correct when measured with a DMM.

So, VID Control is just your CPU voltage, and special VID lets you add extra voltage in very small increments.

Exclamation Power supply problem with this MoBo!

hello guys
i admire your work, you must be proud of it! I just bought the UT version of this mobo but I noticed a problem. My PSU is an enermax galaxy 1000 and ,if you don't know, has a feature named "powerguard". a buzzer can "say" if something goes wrong. Ok, after built everything I start the PC and PowerG begin to sound. 2 beep and pause,2 beep and pause and so on. This Means "psu protection active", so I think something is going wrong. I tried to change or disconnect every device but the problem is still here. The system starts,i can enter the bios and even boot up. the stange thing is that before change CPU and Mobo (prev sys was atlon x2 6000+ gigabyte s5 nforce590sli) everything was ok!
Anyone can help me?
