I couldn't care less about what files you have on there, I was more interested in the word extract from and to.
Sorry I'm totally confused now.

I have the RAR file on my D drive. I then used WINRAR to extract (unpack) the file to my C: (windows drive).

I know I could just unpack straight to the D drive...but tbh it really shouldn't cause such issues extracting the file to C.

I've just tried a 6GB rar from XP to Vista and it's bad, but not as bad as you describe.

That's the thing...I can't find the up-to-date ones.

They never seem to change...

8.3.1.1011 - 2008/02/15 - Gigabyte

8.3.1.1009 - 9/24/2007 - Intel

That's odd. Gotta be a first. The mobo manufacturer site being more up to date than Intel.

" Issues Resolved

1 Fixed: -a switch doesn’t extract INFs - workaround: The INFs are available in the zipped release media.
2 Minor localization issues.
3 SMBus does not install correctly and remove the yellow bang on SMBus device.
4 Some devices were not updating correctly or at all. Fixed in installer."

Tis odd though that they arent on the Intel site, yet are available everywhere else.

Robert, If you've done this (with no ill effect) by the time you read this, then ignore it. But if you haven't, it might well be worth taking Vista SP1 off before updating the chipset.

I think the silence suggests that he is either in bed after drowning his sorrows, or SP1 has taken another victim
