Question DFI P45-T2RS :: No Signal Detected

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a DFI P45-T2RS, but unfortuantely I have not been able to get any screen output I have removed any unnecessary components to leave me with the board, an Intel Q9550 with Scythe Ninja Cu heatsink, 1x2Gb stick Corsair XMS2 800MHz CL4 DHX, Gigabyte Radeon 4850 graphics card and a Corsair HX 520W PSU.
Upon pushing the power button, the system spins up for 5 seconds, pauses briefly and then spins up again and remains under power. The standy and DRAM LEDs are lit up on the motherboard, however my monitor displays No Signal Detected. I have tried the following;

1) Tested 2 monitors on both DVI and VGA connections to both outputs from the VGA card.
2) Replaced the graphics card with a known good Radeon X1900XT and repeated point 1.
3) Replaced the PSU with a 580W Hiper model - Both test fine when using my PSU tester.
4) Replaced the DIMM with a single 512Mb Corsair XMS2 675Mhz CL4.
5) Cleared the CMOS using both jumpers.
6) Removed the CMOS battery for > 2 hours.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreaciated

Regards,
Rob H.

Welcome to the forums

I believe you will need to update the BIOS for that CPU to work.

You can either use a different CPU to flash with, send it back and get the retailer to flash it for you or buy a replacement BIOS chip off fleabay with the latest BIOS on it.

Maybe borrow a CPU? take it to a local PC repair shop and get them to flash it for you?

Yes, a BIOS flash is probably what you need, borrowing a CPU would probably be the best option, but also bringing it to a PC repair shop should be cheap, if they're honest guys.

Thumbs up

Hi all,

I managed to borrow a Q6600 for a couple of hours today. The board functioned correctly and I was able to apply the latest bios - unfortunately this has made no difference when running the Q9550, so I supect I have a dead CPU

Thank you all for your suggestions!

Rob H.

It's not often you see a DOA CPU, but it does happen
