Default CF or not CF? That is the question...

Poetic eh?

But in all seriousness, ive just been looking on toms hardware at graphics cards and it seems they have tested 2 versions of the Radeon 4870. The standard version and a CF version. Ive done a few searches (mainly using google) and i learned that CF means crossfire. But this got me wondering. Does that mean that the standard version isn't crossfire compatable? Why would the CF card be faster in bench mark testings? And finally and much more importantly, why can't i find anybody that sells a crossfire version?

Ive included a link just in case your as confused as me

=on&prod[2114]=on]Compare ATI Radeon HD 4870 CF , ATI Radeon HD 4870

You misunderstood, each and every HD4870 card is CrossFireX compatible, when they write HD4870 CF they simply mean that it's the score of two HD4870 in CrossFireX configuration.

Thanks guys, i knew it would be something simple. It just confused me because it said that both cards were 512mb. Not 2x 512mb or really having any indication that there were 2 of them. Anyway... Ive picked a lovely little graphics card now and have moved on to the mine field of RAM...

Oh the joy....
