Default Modem Sound on LP LT X48-T2R

Hi all,

I have got this annoying sound (like a modem/fax communicating) coming from somewhere on the motherboard (not through the speakers). The sound first appears at boot and then continues and gets to this kind of high piched beep that drives me up the walls. I didnt reopen the computer yet in hopes that there is some sort of software switch i havent discovered. Hope you guys can help me.

Welcome to the forums

Please add your full system specs to your profile, click the green link in my sig to see how.

Although this can be the motherboard, it's more often your graphics card or PSU.

I'm with clunk, my video card whines too when under load.
Try running the furry cube in ati tool, and then prime 95.
If you can hear the noise in both situations it's probably the PSU.
