Default DFI x48 T2R - C1 error present, need help

Hi All,

first of all i want to say sorry for being one of the "first post, first question" lads.
However, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Here is my mess:
I have all my shiny new hardware in front of me, but everytime i want to power it up, the board says C1.

Thats it, nothing more.

i tried 8 different memmory bars from 3 different manufacturers, all different speeds (667, 800, 1066) but no joy, i tried them in every possible slot, no joy.

i tried without memory, C1.

CMOS cleared and googled for 4 hours, but i couldn't find anything that worked.

I desperately need help.

Is my board a lemon or am i too stupid to get this to work?

I (personally) at this point would return your board for an RMA to the place of purchase or try to get the Updated BIOS from DFI as there seemed to be a RAM issue with certain CAS ratings of RAM. I know this was the case with the T3RS as I had this issue with my Corsair RAM.

Have a troll through the Living Review of the T2RS (Sorry, I just did, and it seems the T2R didn't seem to have the RAM issue my T3RS did)

Failing the expiration of trying many different RAM types, take it to where you purchased it and get them to do the testing and see if they can replicate the issue.

Did you get a RED light near the RAM Slots?? If so, this would indicate that there is unwanted voltage feeding into the RAM slots and this could possibly have caused damage upon the insertion of RAM sticks rendering the slots useless. (this is a feature of the T3RS and I believe the T3 is just a DDR3 version of the T2.)

Clunk would be the man for a better explanation of your issue.

I hope you can sort out your problem.

Welcome to the forums

This can be a few things, but you need to test them in a specific wat to determine what the problem is.

I know you've tried all the different memory, but have you tried them all one stick at a time? It's possible that the first set you tried had a bad stick and that has corrupted your CMOS, which brings me onto the next possible fix.

Flip the battery, unplug the PSU and give the on/off switch a few presses to discharge everything and then leave it for at least an hour (longer if you can). Fit one stick of RAM and try again, if it's the same, you can try a different stick, but repeat the CMOS clear in between sticks to rule out the corrupt CMOS.

Thank you for the replies first of all

I've been through the one stick at a time scheme with 8 sticks on 3 different CPUs in every slot.
Didn't reset CMOS between all of them, but fairly frequently. Unplug Power and Battery has been done in between for 45 minutes or an hour.
We (two friends, both L2 enterprise server support techleads) and i spent about 8 hours yesterday trying to get this to work and i posted here because all three of us have absolutely no experience with DFI boards.

No there wasn't a red LED anywhere, just an amber one at the bottom PCIe slot indicating that power is available (i guess thats what it does) and the C1 error on the display.

However we found some evidence, that this board has been used before. Most likely scenario is someone buying it and sending it back within time for a refund after it wasn't working without saying anything.
I've been in contact with my reseller, which is based out of the UK and they have been very helpful and forthcoming about this. So this board is on it's way back and a new board has already been despatched.

So i'm hoping to have working one here by Monday (ideal world scenario) or Tuesday.

Thanks for the help and i'll stick around as i still need to get my planned OC to 3.4GHz done

Good Luck with her mate. One suggestion would be to see if you can set it up at your supplier's on the bench with your gear before you walk out the door to save any hassles. If he's as good as he seems, he shouldn't mind too much. best to be on the safe side rather than wasting time in transit trying to trouble shoot at home again. I have 5 PCs that I can research and get help on here at home but if it's the dreaded C1, best replicate it at the shop.

All the best.
