Crossfire Catalist 8.7
I have two ATI 2900XT's in crossfire mode enabled, both internal crossfire bridges are connected.
Why in Catalist under hardware shows a primary adapter and a disabled adapter???
Are both my cards working. see following image:

Override sees both cards, but again in Catalist hardware shows the secondary disabled adapter:

Device Manager on My Computer sees both:

Why Disabled adapter in Catalist Hardware, also ran Crysis bench res. 1680x1050 AA x4, and get about 24fps. You would think with two cards running crossfire fps would be better. I know res. is high, and AA is on, but still! I have a 22" monitor.
Are both cards running or what?

Use driver cleaner to remove any traces of the old 8.6 cats and also your new install and then reinstall the 8.7 again...Apparently there was a problem with the 8.6 drivers.
Sorry for the late reply

Just great!
Did what you recomended, used driver cleaner, followed their instuctions. Said to go to control panel, remove uninstall ati, then rmove drivers, then unplug internet, then reboot in safe mode and use drive cleaner to remove all ati stuff. then reboot and re-install ati drivers.
Did all this and went to amd.com and re-installed compleate suit with drivers and catalist all in one as recomended. Now Catalist doesent work wont launch.??? worked before! ????

Sounds like you have other problems.
Are you sure you got the full catalyst package? Theres a driver on it's own, that would explain that.
If another driver cleaner session and reinstall doesnt do the trick, I would be trying the cards one at a time and installing the drivers with just one card.

I went back to control panel and uninstalled ati utility, had to do this 3 times before finnaly went away, then I used my original installation cd that came with the cards, and bamm got catalist back, drive cleaner must have cleanned everything. then I went to amd.com again to update drivers, and yes i did install compleat suite installation not just drivers, but package with ccc and all. when I rebooted catalist wont launch again. was working with the install version of the cd but it was an old version, 8.7 nogo.???
The cards are working its catalist that is not. Crysis working great, just cant enable Crossfire without catalist.

Hate to have to do a compleat reload of windows xp, you know start from scratch, maybe cleaner erraced somthing???
I was not familiar with cleaner first time use, had to download it when you mentioned it. Used multiple cleaning filters, and removed, ati, ati ccc, ati hydravicion, ati igp, ati mmc, ati remote wonder, ati uninstall utility, ati wdm. Maybe I removed more than I should have?

Possibly.
I would try one card first before a reinstall.
