I can find info that this was released, but i cant find it for sale anywhere. The info page on the AMD site is broken.Does anyone know anything about this thing?

according to ATI XGP: AMDs externe Grafikkarte im Detail - Golem.de it was realesed but you are right i cant find a single reseller in germany (at least after looking fpr only 5mins)

Is this similar the the Asus product that never show the light of day?? an Expansion slot based Latop external AGP (I guess this one is PCIX) enclosure for single slot graphic cards??

I could be way off.. :-p
