I've had big probs with those Seagate drives......... I had 3 faulty on arrival, the 4th has lasted two months before it has deteriorated to the point where it's no use. It could just have been a bad batch that EBuyer received I suppose...... In the process of arranging the RMA with Seagate now, which in itself is a ballache as you have to use their 'approved packaging', which can only be purchased from one supplier as far as I can see.......... and is £6 per HDD.

On the other hand I bought 2 WD 500GB AAKS the other day and both are perfect, ran Spinrite on them both and zero errors....... the fact that they come vacuum sealed by WD is reassuring......

Now then Fizzer, just some food for thought. You said that there was an arrangement with parcel force where the postage was about 3 pounds more. Now i don't know if this would work with a retailor or not as they obviously want to make a killing on the postage. Anyway a couple of weeks ago my mate was on e-bay and spotted an old valve record player that he fancied. He bought it and contacted the seller to say he would pay the postage and 'boxed' costs. The guy had a re-think and decided not to go through with the deal because of the carriage costs . My mate wanted the thing so he went on to the Parcel Force web site and arranged for Parcel Force to collect the record player from the seller. Now we live in the Highlands of Scotland where if you have an Inverness postal code a lot of suppliers like to impose a 'surcharge' . Parcel Force uplifted the record player from an address suppied by the seller and all for the price of 17 uk pounds. I was quite surprised it was so cheap. There web site gives prices for different weights to be uplifted --could be way to go in future only stumbling block as far as I can see would be 'greed' of the retailors.

Yep i know I can get it picked up cheaper but the shops won't allow this.

You pay there dispatch or nothing..

Nice suggestion though.

No excuse for that really. I have had whole Motorcycle front ends posted for £22.

Get it so often living here, there is like 20 Miles of water separating me from the Mainland UK. Our postoffice is actully affilated with Parcel force. A letter costs 1p more to post and special delivery / Parcels are between £1 and £3 more. Then you go to a retailer and they wack about £70 on it...

Why I wish Komplett never closed. They ship cases along with whole systems for £22...

Sorry but £92 QUID IS REDICULOUS.... I can get a courier to pick it up for less.....
£44 from Overclockers is Bad enough.

Dabs is £22 no matter what BUT they just don't have the choice...
Yup I live in Belgium which although slightly different isn't really much further away.

I can get a DVD from your guys sent for the price of a 1st class stamp yet soon as you order electrical (even low value) the price just rockets. Can't you try ordering from france? Most parcels upto 5 KG are only 15-20 EURO

Try pixmania.fr they also have a site .co.uk so you can compare directly.

cheers,

J
