Default Some cooling Q on the PWM DFI LT X48

Here is a pic of my setup: http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...e/DSC00070.jpg , as u can see I ziptied a AMD stock cooler fan ( 70/15) fan on the PWM heatsink it did knocked about 5c off, but I am not really satisfied still hit 50s during prime. Do u think that letting the fan blowing ontop would be better? secondly I reseated the PWM heatsink put some MX-2 might had put to much (thick) TIM on each chip, how much should I apply? I put on each chip the amount of a grain of rice,

Thanks

50 C is nothing to worry about, but if you want to lower your temps, you could try and wipe off all the thermal paste you used, and apply a very thin film on each chip, i think one grain of rice is more than enough for all 8 chips, you will probably need less. sinc eyou are on liquid cooling, you could remove the small 70x15 fan from the PWM cooling and set the rear 120 mm fan to intake air.
The next step would be removing the stock heatsink and mount a Thermalright HR09 Type 2.

thx for your advice m8, what kind of film u mean? The thing is, orginally I wanted the rear as intake but I hate dust to get sucked in. So I got abit of negative pressure. 3x tops exhausten( pulling) air out from the PA, 1 rear exhaust and 2 front intake ( used pantyhose acting as a dustfilter lol

No problem, when i said "a thin film" i meant that you should use very little thermal paste on every chip, it should be ideally be high like a paper sheet.
If you dont want dust in your system, then you could use another piece of pantyhose as filter.
BTW using negative pressure will not stop dust from entering, it will suck it in from different places instead of intake fans.
But i can see how the rear fan blowing inwards will get the cpu area dirty in a few days.
So, try a using a filtered intake or install a HR09 Type 2 and point a fan at it.

Cheers m8 ur are u a great help will try it out,

A lil bit off topic, I try to understand the GTL settings, i got a Q6600 65nm and 67% is somewhat ideal for this chip, but ofc each board is unique i know clunk presented a table with values, i cant get my quad stable on this board whereas I was @ Asus maximus X38. 445x9 with 1.48vcore during load. On this board not even @ 1.504 so I figure it must be GTL, since I upped the NB up to 1.6 and VTT up to 1.50 and this should be plenty. I see the GTL values of 01 and 23 core are different. Within what range should i try for each 3 GTL. I suppose the Highest value is for the NB , and the second is for core 01 and the third for the 23.
