Default X48 T2R - Ulta 120A and HD4870 Setup

Hello peeps

Well the parts arrived but the case did not...
No biggie as I have to bench test first anyway...

What the best arrangement ya think for the Ultra120a bearing in mind the case will have:

2x120mm on the front blowing in
1x120mm in side blowing in
1x120mm at back sucking out
1x140mm on top sucking out
(maybe the above arrangement is wrong.open to ideas)

I tried this BUT thought it was a bad idea.

so went with this for now, the GPU is in the second PCI-E graphics slot.

I was going to put a south bridge fan on BUT that HD4870 has scuppered that idea until I go H2O at least

No room here....

Or here

And there really isn't any room to pull memory with the card not the proper way at least....

And cause my card is in the other slot to the above pic it makes removing the BIOS jumper a pain.Thank f£$k for the onboard resets....

Curerently Sinking the MEM on memtest89. 3 passes so far...

Looking good, and i agree that having the card in the second slot can be a better idea, but why turn the TRUE so it blows towards the PSU instead of leaving it like in the first pic, blowing towards the rear exhaust?

Antec 300 case I will have has the PSU at the bottom and a BIG 140mm on top and a 120mm top of the back at the CPU area.
Theory behind my madness is that the CPU Fan will exhaust through these help pull air through the NB sink while the one on the side helps provide fresh...

Other than that it looks OK??

Aw i see, in that case it probably is the better solution, only thing that comes to my mind is that maybe the PWM could be slightly hotter because there would be less airflow, but you should check that once you install it into the case (most likely everything will be fine).

Yes that a definate maybe. The PSU is quite BUT i know if it get's hot under load it can be a bit noisey (nothing compared to the graphics card).
It is a good thought though, I will probably get some 80mm fans in the front bottom to get the air moving. Not sure yet still have to get the case in the post...

I'm surprised that the cooler went on like that. Most of the time they won't fit in that direction.

Almost always, the best way is to have the air blowing out pf the back, but if you have a top fan in the case, sometimes it works well with the rear case fan blowing inward and the fan reveresed on the TRUE and the top fan pulling the hot air out.

And where is the CMOS battery?

I was under the impression that the extreme and normal ultra didn't fit, but seems the normal one does
