Default Mosfet cooling question ?

Overclockers Forums - View Single Post - OCF *nonoffical* Air cooling gallery . What is the thing that is sticking out the of the back of the case. I seems to fit into the mosfet cooler ? Where can I buy that.

Also XtremeSystems Forums - View Single Post - **Official DFI LanParty UT X48-T2R(and LT) Discussion

What is the cooling solution for those parts ?

Thank you,

I believe those are all various forms of Thermalright coolers. Some are stock DFI items, some aftermarket.

He is correct^^

The second link is the stock DFI PWM heatsink from an X38/X48 LT.

He's using a DFI Lanparty UT P35-T2R motherboard, the heatpipes and fins assembly sticking out of the back is made by Thermalright and comes only with that model of motherboard, although the UT X38 and X48 have similar mosfet cooling options.
Other than that he's got a Thermalright HR05 on the southbridge, stock cooling on the Northbridge (it's custom made from Thermalright for DFI, you get it on DFI LT and UT models), Thermalright HR03s on the ATI video cards (the one in the top slot also has a HR09 on the PWM section and a HR11 backside cooler, wich goes in front of the rear exhaust fan), Thermalright HR07s on the memory sticks, and a HR01 on the CPU.
Looks good, but i would question the effectiveness of that configuraton: those GPU coolers are not are not really meant to be used without a fan.

I don't know what that is sticking out of the back of the case. Looks like something somebody put together out of some Thermalright parts. I just bought a parcel of 300mm long 6mm dia heat pipes off fleabay. Haven't a clue what I'm gonna do with them. Just knew I needed them for... well... I needed them. Just like a need all that junk I never use.

It looks like it is called Transpiper , pics on newegg.

Newegg.com - DFI LP UT P35 T2R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

It costs about 30 bucks to buy .

DFI Transpiper now sold separately. - EXTREME Overclocking Forums

I think for those digital PWM modules there seems to be no cooling , the black heatsink does the job for most part. There was some discussion on xtreme forums that those two chips get pretty hot .

Not really, i think, unless you are going for really high FSB frequencies.
I just bought a low profile forged copped thingie for mine, but i'm the first to admit i mostly did it for the looks.
Most likely the stock aluminium cooler would've been fine.

6mm. I paid $32US for them. They're coming from Russia so if I even actually see them is yet to be seen. Probably just donated thirty bucks to the Russian mafia.
