Default Copper Heat sinks...should they 'feel' hot if working correctly?

I installed a Thermaltake BIG Typhoon on my E8400

this Air Cooling heatsink and fan is ENORMOUS and therefore came with a steel back bracket which is attached on the underside of the motherboard. The offshoot of this was it was a bit fiddly to fit (took me 2hours in total by the time I had a few attempts at putting it together (with thermal paste making the HUMOUNGOUS heatsink slide about all over the place) and then taking it apart again to repeat process.... (not to mention being forced to bend back part of the other breacket so as it would fit into my mobo without pressing into mobo heat sinks....

To get to the point, I have overclocked my E8400 to just 3.6 Ghz with 1.3V to the CPU. I run 3DMark 06 and have a temp monitoring program running in the background. It informs me the max CPU core was 56C. I am thinking that is is a bit high and have also noticed that the huge copper heatsink on my Air Cooling is not even lukewarm to the touch, despite the high core temps. From any time served overclockers experience, would you suggest that this is a sign that the heatsink is not installed correctly?

Default

Try to stress test the CPU with Prime 95, Orthos, or OCCT, they can squeeze a few more watts out of your processor that 3dmark.
It also looks like the current run of E8x00 CPUs gives temperatures that are a little bit higher than what they really are.
Anyway, touch your heatpipes when the cpu is uder stress, as their temp should be higher than that of the fins.
