Default Dry Ice supply

Hey guys, I've been considering trying D.I lately in an effort to squeeze as much outta this cpu as possible. I've OC'd for years with cold air and water setups but to be honest I'm getting too old (and tired) to mess with all these daft contraptions....not to mention the loft is freezing my b***s off

I was (am) considering buying a SS unit from our resident cold meister, but I also figured if it's for benching only then D.I might be a better option.

So anyhow, I went searching for a D.I supplier and after phoning a few and getting random numbers and prices thrown at me.......I stumbled upon YARA D.I supplies at Heathrow. These guys make your D.I pellets or slices to order, and have very nice prices aswell.

10Kg of D.I = £15 then for delivery if required is £16+vat for next day pre noon delivery.

Including the storage container for 10Kg delivered comes to £42.89

Now I thought, a SS is approx £340-£380 which even at the lowest price is equivelent to (£340 / £43 = 7.906) (7.906 x 10Kg = 79.06Kg) 79kg's of D.I and that's when ordering 10Kg tubs individually (delivery would be a lot less on a bulk order so probably nearer the 90kg-100kg mark).

So, now I'm back downstairs with the family I thought 79Kgs of silent -78c would probably go down better than a minifridge humming away in my kitchen. As I said it's only for benching runs so would probably be less hassle to use rather than having to swap over HSF's with a single stage unit.

The -78c temp (not always that low I know) would surely afford a higher OC than a SS would?

I'd buy some LN2 instead if only I could find someone to sell me

Here's their info incase anyone else is interested.

Phase needs refilled too you know

Besides, I'd agree with you if I could see a quadcore being cooled by one of these. I'm not gonna just pop the best part of £400 for a 250mhz-300mhz increase on my oc.

As I said in the other thread, if you get the right unit, you can easily cool a quad.

1.6v+ @ -30 to -35 on a G0 using mine.

I'm also interested how much you are going to spend on Dry Ice gear/dry ice, and how much of an overclock you think you'll get from it?

Wouldn't you need a copper pot for dry ice?

Yeah, seems pretty good then. Looks like sum1 beat me to it though Nevermind

I'm just gonna get the 10kg for £42 to start with so I get to play with subzero without takin' the plunge entirely. Depending on what I use (alcohol/acetone) and the temps I get I would imagine around the 4200mhz-4500mhz mark. If all goes to plan then I'll most likely buy one of those SS units like you have My birthday ain't 'till march though.....so I reckon I'll wait 'till then so the wife doesn't blow a gasket

Yeah I've got one ready mate, I got a buddy to make me one at his work (for services rendered) so really it's gonna be quite easy/cheap for me to try.
