Default Gigabyte GA X38-DQ6 Cooler

I got a Freezer 7 Pro intending to use it on the X38-DQ6 but it is just so tight a fit up against the chipset cooling that it went on my P5K instead. I need enough space so as I can easily remove the fan assembly to clean off the cooling fins. It's in a dusty environment and I have to remove the fan assembly to clean them out about once a month.

Plus it kind of clashed with the Dominator ram that is in there too.

This Gelid Silent Spirit review CPU cooler caught my eye.

Any recommends of something around the same price?

I haven't heard of that one mate. What about the Xigmatek 964 that Supershanks reviewed here? - 92mm fan, great cooling, pretty small heatsink.

The Thermalright SI128 is also a great cooler that is of a similar shape to the Gelid one.

The Xigmatek looks like a possible. This OCZ Vendetta CPU Cooler - OCZTVEND - www.microdirect.co.uk looks similar. Couldn't find anywhere that does the Xigmatek.

Cheers, looking at that one on scan it appears that removing the fan is more complicated than it was on the original. I will keep looking or I may just take a file to the freezer 7 pro fan assembly.

It's just four rubber mounts that pull through the holes in the fan isn't it?

As far as I know they kind of lock into the fan mounting holes on both. The first one had slots in them that just slid over the fins of the cooler at the sides as can be seen here Xigmatek HDT-SD964 CPU Cooler Review | Reviews - Clunk.org.uk.

The scan one looks like it may be wider with that covering around the fins plus it looks like the fixing to the cooler is blocked in too. I may be wrong.

Scan.co.uk: Thermalright Ultima-90i 92/120 mm tower heat sink for Intel/AMD CPU (Without Fan))

Ultima 90's back down to a sane-ish price.
