Default Wolfdale temps???

Has anyone any idea on how to get an indication of the temperature of a Wolfdale processor?
It seems that the the DTS embedded in the cores of the 45nm CPUs are worthless, becoming more inaccurate the further you go from the TJMax; they also suffer from a slope behavior, so the inaccuracy can't be corrected with an offset and sometimes they also stick to a temperature at idle (mine never go lower than 35C)
Do you think that the CPU sensor, the one that sits in between the cores, is decent? I rememeber that it was just some 5-10C cooler than the cores of my 65nm CPU (the DTS sensors of those CPU are pretty much accurate, according to Intel), but that if i used an offset of +7/+8 C the values reported were very close to the Realtemp or Coretemp readings.

I ask this because the DTS sensors give me low readings, but the CPU sensor is giving me much higher values, and if they are correct, the cores will be for sure hotter, wich means that my CPU is going to go up in flames!
Out of the top of my head, 400x10 at 1.26 vCore and 1.1 VTT will give me temps close to 60C according to the CPU sensor, but the cores were reading something in the high 40s?

The latest version of coretemp or realtemp is as close as it's going to get really. I don't even look at the temps any more unless there's a problem or I neeed to measure them.

But Coretemp and Realtemp read the DTS sensors, wich are worthless on 45nm CPUs.
I wonder why Intel ditched the sensors that were used on 65nm parts when they were perfectly good.
Also, the TJMax is 100C, why Realtemp has it set at 95 by default?

I don't really care about temps as long as i know they are in check, but i think i may be hitting a thermal limit at 4400 and would like to know that's the case or not.

Exactly, and that's partly why I don't check the temps any more

Ye, i see what you mean, yesterday i put on a new, slightly faster SilenX fan on the cooler, and now the idle temp is still 35C, but the load is 37C (this is with Realtemp, Coretemp says 40 and 42)!

Many Wolfdales have stuck sensors that don't go below a certain Temp.

Best thing to do is to use coretemp and if it seems like it's getting unusually hot, feel the heatsink and see if it is really hot to the touch.

Yeah, that's what i did when it hit 75C+, the heatsink's base and heatpipes were barely warm, the IR thermometer confirmed a temp between 30 and 32C for base and heatpipes.
I remember that when i was around 65-70C with my 65nm, the heatpipes were definately hotter, around 50C if i recall correctly.
