Nope. You could have the pump in the garage and the pc at the 3rd floor, there would be no extra stress on the pump.
This is because the height difference stresses the pump in an open loop only, in a closed loop what comes up must also come down, effectively creating exactly the same positive pressure at the pump's inlet that the liquid going up creates at the outlet.
If you want resistance, kink a pipe or something like that... But wait, that sounds like a bad thing to do right? That's why you shouldn't do it. And it won't help, BTW.

thanks for the pointers

The water block is pretty nasty when all is said and done, I've been having a decko at the Swiftech Apogee GTZ, will this give me any improvement??

Not really mate, the pump and everything is a bit shoddy to be honest - Separates is the way to go with water cooling.

Honestly i wouldn't change the block, at least not with a high restriction one such as the Apogee GTZ, i would be worried the pump could give up the ghost.
Maybe a XSPC Delta V2 or V3 if you must, but i would be keeping it as it came, ready for RMA.

Depends... should it be ready to accept rads out of the box or you are willing to do some heavy modding? How many rads you plan to install?

For now just a triple or quad for the 4870x2. As little modding as possible. Money:400euro max. Also if possible is should allow both air and watercooling(air for cpu, mobo and water for the demonic ATI).

Many cases have holes in the back so you can run the tubing to the radiator, if it's ok for you to have it outside of the case.
That would require no modding at all.

I would rather have it inside(the rad). Is TJ07 the perfect choice then?

TJ07/ Stacker 830/832/ V2110/ MM Ascension all can accomodate a tripple rad internally.

The TJ07 is a lovely case, but i think i will spend my pennies on the V2110.

Will you post up some pix of whatever you do buy?
