no there is no heatpipe in there. but the first gpu cooling block (the one closest to the dv connectors on the back of the card ie the one furthest way from the stock fan) is a vapour chamber copper block. this is how amd/ati have tried to counteract the hot air blown over the second gpu hs. if you recall on the 3870x2 cards the first hs was alloy where the second was copper. they used the same school of thought but give us a little more bang for the buck.

as for the shroud; you can easily make it yourself. just get the dimensions of yours. a dremel, an iron to shape the section that goes around the stock fan. a top section with a cut out for the fan you choose, acrylic cement. some fine grit sandpaper. some polish or paint (if you paint it be sure to slightly ruff up the surface with some waterpaper) and to attach the whole thing you will eith have to be very precise and use 3m acrylic and make sure your desing is slightly larger than the stock shroud to that the screw holes are covered perfectly, or do what i intend and use some double sided tape (from an rc shop called servo tape and is very stron but can be removed when you want) and some tabs on the inner side of the shroud.
