I have installed the SMP client on the 'ol dell 2x2Ghz Xeon unit. I joined the team, it asked for a password but since i didnt know what it was i just ignored that bit.
When i left office it had 2% done. I dont expect miracles from it.

It has an old GeForce2 card in it too, 64MB GTS, doubt it can run the GPU client?

You need a CUDA capable card, 8xxx series and up for the gpu client with Nvidia. Not sure on the ATI front.

Would it be worth grabbing a AGP one of these?
Geforce 8400 or maybe an ATI HD3650 AGP?

Or would these be wildly too powerful and perhaps twist the earth off its axis?

This machine runs day and night and is rarely used, my own rig is only on when i am at home (which is not that often) so since i have started i will try to get as much out of it as possible.

What in your opinion is the cheapest AGP option?

I would like to contribute, but i would like to do it on a shoestring.
