Yep, just having a play with the dual core first

I've been having a play around with the different settings to get a feel for what does what, and I've found myself getting 5 hours prime stable and then a fail, so it is taking a little bit longer than I thought, but I'm getting there slowly.

On the whole though, it is really nice to use, as long as your remember to save a set of your settings to the CMOSReloaded section, as high FSBs and can end up with regularly clearing the CMOS.

Oh, and the Yellow slots are much more stable than the green for my 2x1GiB of Ballistix.

The PWM heatsink is still only slightly warm, and the Transpiper is actually cold. No doubt that will all change when the quad is in place

I was thinking of this, but in the end got the gigabyte x38.

Still you hit a new record with the longest bios template

Well BUGGER ! you beat me to it by a couple of days !!

I Couldn't resist those stickle brick colours !

Anyway ..... its just gone on test !

E4400 @3.1GHZ
Thermaltake Toughpower 750w
2 Gig Ballistix PC6400 @ 840mhz(ish)
Scythe Kama Cross Cpu cooler
EVGA 8800 GTS

Unfortunatley i'm a little disappointed with the cpu cooler with only 1.34v going through the chip the temps are a little high +/- 48C

, i was initially quite optimistic about this as if you have a look the fan vents through the cooler over the moffset area and the ram !!!

And the final disappointment was as the Kama has push fit clips to fix it to the motherboard this rules out using the vaunted transpiper to assist in cpu cooling

i'll leave this for now on a plus note ....... for a newbie to intel chipset overclocking it seems on the face of things to be reasonably user friendly.......For Now

to be honest i was cr*pping me pants and so far its doing well mate , i'll go as far as to say this ..........

i have an evga 680i and with the e4400 i never got past 300fsb @ 10X multi , this little devils just eaten it up !

Well i had a good old fiddle with cooler as with Scythe's seeming excellent reputation the load temps did seem a little high

.... anyway reseated the cooler and took off the silly plastic locating pins replacing them with some bolts and springs i had from previous builds , this enabled me to fit the transpipe around the moffset area

the short story is massive success with the re-seating temps way down ! seems i was harsh on the kama cross cooler

Orthosing @ 3.55ghz now with same settings as below piccy

looks like i now have the maximum performance out of the cooler !

this is as far as i'll be pushing the volts so hopefully i'll get to my 3.6ghz target for this chip on air

i have to add as well that this is a "straight out of the box" experience with the motherboard ! no bios / chipset driver updates !
